storytelling to

inform. indulge. inspire.

Anna-Maria Bauer is a multi-platform storyteller in English and German. She finds captivating, surprising and emotional tales that can neither be too big or too small; narratives that shape the world around us and the person that we have become. In her texts, she seeks to share new insights, celebrate successes and plant the seed of hope in the minds of her readers.

Narratives That Matter

"Being a journalist is a privilege. I vividly remember standing outside a retirement home in Vienna on a cold February afternoon in 2013, my first assignment for the Austrian daily Kurier. Surrounded by the untold stories of elderly lives—their memories, their dreams, their experiences—I felt a deep, intangible excitement. In that moment, I understood the gift of being entrusted with these personal truths, stories meant not just for me, but to share with the world. It was a responsibility I took seriously, knowing that the words I wrote could illuminate lives and perspectives that might otherwise remain hidden. I realised that through my writing, I had the power to inspire, broaden horizons, stir emotions, and shift the way people see the world. This has been my mission ever since."

Stories touch us. They stay with us. It is through them, we make sense of the world.

Lesereise: Devon &
Cornwall

Fine sandy bays, steep coastal villages, mystical moorland landscapes. The South West of England is playful and rugged at the same time; you can get lost in remote landscapes and then suddenly find yourself in bustling, narrow alleyways. You can reach the devil’s cauldron and perhaps discover the Holy Grail. The endless sea, sometimes gurgling crystal clear, sometimes roaring violently, beckons and the fresh wind turns your head.

I have searched for the hidden in Devon and Cornwall: climbed through underground passages and mossy ravines, was on the trail of monstrous smugglers and famous detectives. I enjoyed the only truly English tea, visited an island that sometimes isn’t one at all and a manor house that became a movie star. None of this was possible without the right refreshments: steaming Cornish pasties and scones warm from the oven. And these lead to the obligatory question: how should cream tea be served: with clotted cream or jam first?

The imposing Hofburg in Vienna, Austria

The glitz and glamour of Vienna's most central street

Anna-Maria Bauer in the Herrengasse

This street proves: size does not matter. For you need only 500 metres to become one, maybe even the most important street in Vienna.

Situated between Freyung and Michaelerplatz, nearly bordering the Imperial Palace, the Hofburg, the Viennese Herrengasse was home, work place and leisure time location for nobility, pioneers and discoverers. The founder of the emergency medical service lived here, the first secondary school for girls was opened here and the most prestigious authors met in one of its now famous cafés.

BESPOKE MAGAZINES

For its 150th anniversary, Café Landtmann, one of Vienna’s most iconic coffeehouses, commissioned me to create a magazine that captured its history, values, and modern appeal. I developed, researched, and wrote the 55-page publication, ensuring it reflects the café’s legacy and resonates with its audience.

The finished 150 Years Landtmann Magazine

It was on a slightly rainy but a surprisingly mild Wednesday, the 1st of October 1873: while all around the cityscape was still characterised by building sites (the town hall and the university had only just been built and
and the foundation stone for the neighbouring Burgtheater
Burgtheater would be laid seven years later), Franz Landtmann opened the door of the coffee house on Franzensring, probably with a beating heart: ‘Vienna's most elegant and largest café’ was now open ...
